I hear we might be using a new polycarbonate product on a renovation, can you tell me any thing about it?
Makrolon is a clear polycarbonate flat sheet available in standard sizings which we are going to use as glazing for a conservatory. The polycarbonate sheet can be cut and fixed by yourself as our carpenter and the installing method is the same as traditional glazing. We are using 10mm thick flat sheet and of interest the sheet can also be supplied in a tinted finish. The conservatory is framed in treated pine and the polycarbonate glazed areas are the roof the ends and side elevations. We have submitted drawings and engineering and we are currently waiting for a building permit. Makrolon is also being used as I think that for the design this product has safety advantages over a glass specification.
